Driver Experience - Come and Try at Amaroo

  • 24 Jun 2023
  • 07:30 - 16:30
  • Amaroo Circuit - Sydney Motorsport Park

Registration

This event field was full of drivers on Monday 19 Jun. We have a terrific group of Officials and Driving Instructors but we still need Flag Marshals.
You could be a Flag Marshal or is there anyone that you could encourage to be a Flag Marshal for the day?
We offer Flag Marshals the best seats in the house right on trackside, lunch and possible appreciation laps at lunch time. No prior experience is needed as we provide Flag Marshal Briefing at 8:30AM. I ask anyone who would like to be a Flag Marshal to contact me by email, motorsport@bmwclubnsw.asn.au

This is a driver Experience day and your opportunity to have a go on the wonderful, twisty, Amaroo Circuit at Sydney Motorsport Park. You don't need a sporty BMW or M car because all BMWs work well on the track and you will be surprised just how you enjoy driving on the circuit and learning track driving techniques. Of course sporty BMWs and M cars are welcome and if you have one of those, then this is the chance to open it up and experience the thrill of driving well. There will be separate track time for beginners, regular drivers and Supersprint experts.

You must read the Supp. Regs, for this event. That Motorsport Australia approved document has much information and most of how it will work on the day. The Supp. Regs. and all the other documents are for downloading from this event entry.

As we run under a Motorsport Australia Permit, all drivers must have a Motorsport Australia Speed Licence and comply with Motorsport Australia Come & Try requirements. You can purchase that from Motorsport Australia online. If you want to just try out your daily drive BMW then we will have Motorsport Australia 1 day introductory licences available for sale on the day at $25 and if you choose to get further involved that $25 can be a credit towards purchase of a Motorsport Australia Speed licence within the next 6 months. Let us know that you would like the one day licence before 14 June and we will have it ready for you when you pay that $25 on the day. We are happy to have junior drivers and they need the Motorsport Australia Junior Speed Licence or one day introductory licence and can be from 14 to 17 years of age. 18 year old's require the Speed Licence.

All drivers must submit a signed Motorsport Australia Disclaimer. Download that Motorsport Australia disclaimer, read it, sign it and bring it with you to the sign-on desk on the day. There is a section on the disclaimer for junior drivers parental approval.

Cars need to be either TfNSW road registered or BMW Drivers Club track prepared cars. There are separate Scrutineering Forms for these two car types. Download the appropriate form for your car, use it to check that your car is ok for the track, sign it and bring it with you to hand to the Scrutineer on the day.

On the track, all drivers must be dressed in appropriate apparel and wear an approved helmet. Apparel must be non-synthetic and cover from neck to wrist to ankle with appropriate covered shoes, Helmet must be to at least to AS1698.

Drivers must have a car number on both sides of the car. If the car is a regular at our Supersprint events you will already have a car number. If not then you apply for the number that you want to use on your registration form and as long as no one else requests that number then it is yours for the day. If the number conflicts I will email you and suggest and alternative number. For this event stick-on wheely bin numbers can be purchased from Bunnings or any sign company. White Magnetic Panels with black numbers are great but you must have white race tape on the leading edge or the panel could blow off at speed.

We will have driving instructors to show you the way round the circuit and present all the correct track driving techniques. There are Introduction to track driving documents on this website in https://www.bmwclubnsw.asn.au/motorsport. Please read these informative documents and take a look at the excellent INCARNATION video on youtube. We will also have a brief Introduction to track driving at the Driver Briefing.

We do need Flag Marshals for this event. Flag Marshals have the best seat right on trackside, are involved in the action and don't need prior experience as a Flag Marshal briefing with notes will be provided. If you can assist, or you have a friend who can assist let me know at motorsport@bmwclubnsw.asn.au .

We also need experienced Supersprint Drivers as Driving Instructors. Please let me at motorsport@bmwclubnsw.asn.au know you can assist by instructing.
