There are only 60 BMW Drivers Club Drivers places at this at this Supersprint. On Sunday 18 June there was only 12 places still available and as we get closer to 60 we will open a waiting list for this event. Don't delay your registration.
This is Round 4 of our 2023 Supersprint Championship and also Round 5 of the Porsche Club NSW Supersprint Competition.
It is at Gardner GP Circuit at Sydney Motorsport Park and is our annual BMW/Porsche Challenge. We are host this year and there will be 60 BMWs and 60 Porsches.
For all drivers you must have at least a Motorsport Australia Speed Licence and you must read and understand this event Supp. Regs.
BMW Drivers must read and understand the BMW Club 2023 Supersprint Rules then complete an Annex-C 2023 form for your car and submit it to motorsport@bmwclubnsw.asn.au . You need to complete the Annex-C 2023 once only for the year or if you change your vehicle Data or Modifications.
BMW Drivers, download the Disclaimer, read it, sign it and bring it with you to the Sign-on Desk at the track on the day, download the Scrutiny Form, use it to check your car, sign it and bring it with you to the Scrutineers at the track on the day.
This Supersprint is for our experienced Supersprint Drivers and there will be no juniors or instructors in cars during the Supersprint laps. There will be separate Driver Experience days like 24 June and 22 October for new drivers.
Sign-on Desk will open and Scrutineering will commence at 7:15AM. Early start so that we all get many laps on the day.
BMW Drivers choose your desired car number, enter that number on your registration form. If no other driver selects that number then that car number is yours. If someone else has that number then you will receive an email sorting out an alternative number. You purchase your own 230mm high Helvetica or Aerial or similar font car number digits in black or white to contrast on your car, and have them on both sides of your car for checking at scrutineering. White magnetic panels with black numbers are approved with white race tape on the leading edge to prevent the panel being blown off at speed.
For the BMW / Porsche Challenge, from the 120 cars registered, 60 from BMW and 60 from Porsche, each club selects 5 cars to run in each of 5 time challenge groups. All cars are in their club's Supersprint Championship. The Supersprint Challenge is 25 BMWs challenging 25 Porsches out of the 120 cars at this Supersprint. Selected car numbers are provided by the club’s manager to the Challenge Timer before the first Supersprint Run of the Day.
The Challenge Timer uses a spreadsheet to accumulate points for each group and reports the challenge winner at the end of the day. The BMW/Porsche Challenge trophy is presented to the winning club. The timed Challenge Groups are: Group 1 unlimited lap time, Group 2 time limit 1:43, Group 3 time limit 1:46, Group 4 time limit 1:49, and Group 5 time limit 1:54.
We will be using the new Sydney Motorsport Park MyLaps Track Observation System and each car will have to fit a MyLaps Racelink transponder. Fitting instruction will be provided. We also use the standard timing system that we have been using for many years. That is drivers pick up a MyLaps Transponder and a timing transmitter install them and return them at the end of the day.
We must have a full set of Flag Marshals. Is there anyone that you can encourage to be a Flag Marshal for the day? For the Flag Marshal we will provide the best seats in the house right on trackside, lunch and possible appreciation laps at lunch time. No prior experience is needed as we provide a Flag Marshal Briefing with notes at 8:00AM. Have your Flag Marshal contact me by email.
